Pan Daijing's Exploration of Body, Affect, and Space Since 2015

Pan Daijing, an artist based in Berlin, has been investigating the interplay between the body, emotional states, and spatial environments since 2015. Her multidisciplinary practice encompasses sound, video, performance, and installation, through which she converts architectural settings into psychological landscapes. These works capture the transient and often conflicting aspects of human feelings, such as intimacy paired with discomfort, tenderness alongside threat, and love interwoven with pain. The artist's approach resonates with the concept of Weltinnenraum, or 'world-inner-space,' a term introduced by poet Rainer Maria Rilke in 1914 to describe how external experiences evoke internal emotional realms. Rilke's poem from that year suggests that nearly everything invites us into feeling, highlighting a connection between physical gestures and inner moods. Pan Daijing's creations embody this idea, transforming spaces into arenas where affective contradictions converge and materialize.
