PAMMTV Releases Best Practices Guide for Captioning Video Art

Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) has published its first best practices guide for captioning and translating video artworks. The guide covers closed captioning standards, internal captioning processes, and the specific challenge of describing sound in artworks. It aims to cultivate presentation and interpretation of contemporary media arts that engages audiences across the Caribbean, Latin America, and African Diaspora, regardless of language or ability. The guide also seeks to nurture collaborative processes between artists, museums, and audiences, and to advance accessibility by identifying practices that extend the expressive potential of artworks.
