Palma and Casa Gramsci Open in Turin During Art Week
Two new cultural spaces, Palma and Casa Gramsci, have officially debuted in Turin during the city's art week led by Artissima. Palma, founded by Roman artist Gabriele De Santis (born 1983), opened in March near Piazza Carlina. It functions as a plant shop and art space, currently hosting the exhibition 'Plants do things…' by Canadian artist Zin Taylor, curated by Lorenzo Benedetti and Lilou Vidal, running until December 3. The show includes a poster, objects, books, a radio program, and workshops. Casa Gramsci, a collaboration between NH Collection Torino Piazza Carlina and Fondazione Istituto piemontese Antonio Gramsci with Lunetta11, opened in June in a room previously featuring an installation by Alfredo Jaar. Its first exhibition, 'Popolo Nuovo,' runs until December 4, featuring works from Galleria Niccoli di Prato artists including Salvatore Scarpitta, Nicus Lucà, Edoardo Manzoni, and CCH. The show explores industrial and natural materials, with pieces like Scarpitta's 'Feticci d’albergo' (1991) and Lucà's 'Falcemartello' (2000). A publication 'Made in Popolo' edited by Leonardo T. Manera was distributed at the vernissage.
