Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Fair Debuts in January 2018

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

Art Miami Group, owner of Art Miami, Context, Aqua, Art Wynwood, Art New York, and Context New York, launches The Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Fair in Palm Beach, Florida, 120 km from Miami. The fair runs January 11–15, 2018, during Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend, in a 6,000 sqm tent between CityPlace and the Hilton Hotel. It replaces Art Southampton, canceled in 2017 due to high costs and poor summer attendance. Nick Korniloff of Art Miami Group cited social distractions in the Hamptons and collectors' lack of buying mood in July. The fair features galleries from Japan, Europe, Canada, the US, and South America, including New York's C Fine Art, Boccara Art, Berry Campbell; Paris's 55Bellechasse; London's Gilden's Arts; and Tokyo's Yukufu Gallery. Italian participation is limited to Jerome Zodo, originally from Milan but now based in London. Main sponsor is Christie's International Real Estate. Partner Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens hosts a satellite exhibition celebrating Israeli artist Boaz Vaadia (1951–2017). 55Bellechasse dedicates a booth to former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, with proceeds benefiting the Perry J. Cohen Foundation. The Cultural Council of Palm Beach organizes a Newsted retrospective.
