Palestinian Resistance Art Exhibition 'Water Like Tears, Flour Like Soil' Concludes at ICD Brookfield Place Dubai
The exhibition titled 'Water Like Tears, Flour Like Soil' wrapped up on 4 December 2024 at ICD Brookfield Place in Dubai. This event showcased the talents of 19 artists from Palestine and around the globe, delving into themes of land, loss, and resistance. Curated by Camila Palomino and Emily Jacir, it was a joint effort between ICD Brookfield Place Arts and Dar Jacir. The diverse array of works included sculpture, painting, photography, film, textiles, and mixed media, accompanied by oud music and poetry from Mahmoud Darwish. Featured pieces comprised works by Gaza artists Mohammed Al Hawajri and Dina Mattar, Hazem Harb's 'Gauze Part Two' (2024), and the video 'Shaheeq' (2024). The exhibition's title draws from an Arabic proverb linking bread-making to mourning, highlighting themes of community and hope amid the Israeli occupation.
