Palermo's #WALLOFSOUNDS Festival Questions Meaning in Art
The fifth #WALLOFSOUNDS festival unfolded in Palermo, curated by Gaetano La Rosa, and paid tribute to the late Guido Baragli, who passed away in Bologna this year at the age of 61. This event aimed to confront the growing cultural and political divides with a mix of concerts, performances, and art exhibitions. Key locations included the Basilica della Magione, Museo Diocesano, and Archivio Storico Comunale. Sensory experiences featured asemic writing by Enzo Patti and frottage by Matteo Fraterno, both inspired by prison walls. Sound artists Enrique Del Castillo and Manuel Zarria explored themes of chaos and echo. Supported by various cultural institutions, the festival encouraged a temporary community, resisting art’s commodification through shared experiences.
