Palermo's Caffè Internazionale closes after three years

The Caffè Internazionale in Palermo, a bar and cultural space at via San Basilio, has closed after three years of operation. Founded by Stefania, the venue hosted 85 'intellectualeyzed' events featuring figures like Philip Ursprung and Robert Storr, three editions of a summer school founded by Daria Filardo and Stefania, curated with Davide Ricco, with participants including Jesal Kapadia, Diego Perrone, Anetta Mona Chisa, Julieta Aranda, Chiara Camoni, Raimundas Malašauskas, Cesare Viel, and Dora García, each edition with about ten international students. The space also organized 'palermotherfucker' with music by Darrell Shines. Stefania has promised that some activities will continue, such as the next summer school in 2019, likely hosted in different locations. The Caffè was considered an artwork by its founder, tied to a specific time and place. It served as a venue for previews of young artists' works, the 'Soul of Palermo' festival, and informal gatherings. The closure was announced via a Facebook post thanking friends and supporters.
