Palazzo Strozzi announces 2022 exhibitions: Donatello and Olafur Eliasson

Palazzo Strozzi in Florence has unveiled its 2022 exhibition program, headlined by major shows on Donatello and Olafur Eliasson. The Donatello exhibition, titled 'Donatello, il Rinascimento', will run from March 19 to July 31, 2022, and is organized by Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi and Musei del Bargello in collaboration with the Skulpturensammlung und Museum für Byzantinische Kunst of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Curated by Francesco Caglioti, the show will be held across two venues: Palazzo Strozzi and Museo Nazionale del Bargello. It will place Donatello's work in dialogue with masters such as Brunelleschi, Masaccio, Andrea Mantegna, Giovanni Bellini, Raffaello, and Michelangelo. From September 22, 2022 to January 23, 2023, Palazzo Strozzi will host the largest retrospective ever dedicated to Olafur Eliasson in Italy, curated by director Arturo Galansino. The exhibition will feature both known and new works created specifically for the show, exploring themes of perception and experience through materials like light, water, and sand across sculpture, installation, painting, photography, architecture, and design. Currently, Palazzo Strozzi is presenting 'Jeff Koons. Shine', a retrospective covering forty years of Koons's career, open until January 30, 2022, and previously hosted JR's large-scale installation 'La Ferita' on its facade.
