Palazzo Moroni Opens Fully in Bergamo with Restored 19th-Century Rooms

Palazzo Moroni, a 17th-century palace in Bergamo's Città Alta, opens its fully restored interiors to the public on November 22, 2023. The FAI (Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano) managed the restoration since 2019, following the 2020 reopening of its panoramic gardens and ortaglia (two hectares of farmland). The final phase, begun in 2022, restored five rooms dating from around 1835, including the Sala Gialla, Sala Rosa, Sala Azzurra, Salottino Cinese, and Sala Turca, featuring precious silks, oriental ceramics, lacquered furniture, and trompe-l'oeil frescoes. The mezzanine includes the original kitchen and Count Antonio Moroni's apartment, used until 2009. New visitor amenities include a ticket office, shop, and an immersive video narrated by actor Luca Micheletti. The palace also offers tactile supports for the blind, a simplified guide for intellectually disabled visitors (2024), and guided tours in LIS for the deaf. A guidebook by Skira is forthcoming in 2024. The palace is open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am–6pm, €11.
