Palazzo Monti Artist Residency Opens to Public in Brescia

exhibition · 2026-05-05

On October 21, 2017, Palazzo Monti, an artist residency located in a 13th-century palazzo in Brescia, Italy, will host an Open Studio event for the public. Established by Edoardo Monti in March 2017, this independent and non-profit residency is financed by his family, maintaining independence from galleries and institutions. Monti's grandfather acquired the palazzo in the 1950s. Managed by Monti and a group of friends under 30, the residency has welcomed 18 artists from diverse backgrounds. Applications are submitted via email, with a council based in New York determining the participants. The inaugural exhibition, "Negative Capability," showcased Danish artist Leonardo Amadeus Anker Vandal, while the Open Studio will feature works from 13 artists and offer tours of the frescoed spaces.
