Palazzo Medici Riccardi launches digital revamp with new logo, website, and Facebook page

digital · 2026-05-04

Palazzo Medici Riccardi in Florence, a Renaissance icon built by Michelozzo for Cosimo de' Medici between 1444 and 1462, is embarking on a new phase to boost its annual 130,000 visitors. The palace, which passed from the Medici to the Riccardi in 1659, then to the Lorena in 1814, and became public property in 1871, now houses the Metropolitan City and Prefecture of Florence. A valorization project presented in 2016 by the MUS.E Association includes inclusion in the Domenica Metropolitana free admission program, starting with the first Sunday of each month. From September 15, 2018, renewed ticket office and bookshop services will be active; in October, new rooms for workshops and activities for children, families, and adults will open, focusing on hands-on, theatrical, and narrative cultural mediation. The palace's historic Medici coat of arms (six "bisanti") will become the new logo, updating the museum's visual identity. A new bilingual Italian-English website will launch on the weekend, and a dedicated Facebook page is already active to promote events and knowledge of the palace. The Museo dei Marmi, established in 2005 inside the palace, showcases the Riccardi family's classical sculpture collection assembled between the 16th and 17th centuries.
