Palazzo Loschi Zileri dal Verme in Vicenza houses a wooden replica of a Milanese palace

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

In Vicenza's Corso Palladio, the 18th-century Palazzo Loschi Zileri dal Verme, now a luxury event venue called No Other Place, contains a 2-meter-tall wooden model of a Milanese building at Via Mozart 17. The replica, part of designer Claudio Biasia's private collection, was purchased at a flea market and dates to 1940. It was used by RAI from 1986 to 1987 for filming "Giulia e Giulia," directed by Peter del Monte, the world's first fiction film shot with Sony HDVS analog high-definition video. The model precisely reproduces the Milanese facade, built from 1926 under architect Aldo Andreani's plan, featuring rusticated ground floor, pilasters, arched windows, and Liberty-style wrought-iron balconies. The palace also bears a cannonball mark from the 1805 Franco-Austrian conflict and a marble inscription recording King Vittorio Emanuele II's 1866 stay. Biasia opens the venue for private visits on special occasions like FAI days.
