Palazzo Grassi Teatrino Announces Autumn 2017 Program with 37 Free Events

Palazzo Grassi's Teatrino in Venice, designed by Tadao Ando, has unveiled its autumn 2017 program featuring 37 free events. Director Martin Bethenod and operations director Mauro Baronchelli presented the schedule, which runs from October to November. The program is inspired by themes from Damien Hirst's exhibition "Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable," including truth versus fiction and collecting. Highlights include the "Unbelievable Cinema" film series starting October 6, focusing on Orson Welles with critics Roy Menarini and Andrea Bellavita. On November 9, writer Valerio Massimo Manfredi will discuss mythological entities evoked by Hirst. Philosopher Peter Sloterdijk will appear on November 17 in conversation with journalist Stefano Vastano. The Helicotrema festival of sound works returns on October 20-21. Other events include a documentary by Marco Bertozzi, a workshop with artist Johan Grimonprez, and a talk by Venice Biennale director Christine Macel on November 23. The program also features partnerships with the Italian Association of Young Lawyers and the Order of Architects of Venice, focusing on copyright and restoration. Poetry Slam events are organized with Marco Polo bookshop. Educational meetings include a session with the Centre Pompidou. The season previews upcoming exhibitions: a solo show of Albert Oehlen curated by Caroline Bourgeois and a group show "Dancing with Myself" curated by Martin Bethenod, both opening April 8, 2018.
