Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana Announce 2020-2021 Program

Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana in Venice have reopened with three exhibitions originally scheduled for March 2020: 'Henri Cartier-Bresson. Le Grand Jeu', 'Youssef Nabil. Once Upon a Dream' at Palazzo Grassi, and 'Untitled, 2020. Tre sguardi sull’arte di oggi' at Punta della Dogana. The venues reopened on July 11, initially only on weekends, and returned to full schedule from September 4. Director Bruno Racine outlined plans including the second edition of the cultural mediation initiative 'Altri Sguardi' for asylum seekers and refugees, educational workshops, and events at the Teatrino. A talk with artist Bertille Bak is scheduled for October 27, and a film series 'Cinemapocalissi' curated by Il Colorificio will take place in October. For 2021, a solo exhibition of Bruce Nauman titled 'Bruce Nauman: Contrapposto Studies' will open at Punta della Dogana, curated by Carlos Basualdo and Caroline Bourgeois. Palazzo Grassi will undergo maintenance and reopen with a new program in 2022. The institution also launched the 'Dorsoduro Museum Mile' circuit with Gallerie dell’Accademia, Galleria di Palazzo Cini, and Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Racine emphasized the need for European-level cultural funding.
