Palazzo Erizzo Ligabue Opens as Palazzo delle Arti e delle Culture in Venice

exhibition · 2026-05-03

Palazzo Erizzo Ligabue, a 15th-century palace on Venice's Canal Grande, is opening to the public from May 7 to 24, 2026, as the Palazzo delle Arti e delle Culture – Collecto. The initiative is led by Inti Ligabue, 45-year-old entrepreneur and son of the late paleontologist Giancarlo Ligabue, whose Fondazione Giancarlo Ligabue has been based there since 2016. The foundation originated as a study center in 1973. The palace houses over 400 pieces spanning from 4.5 billion-year-old fossils to contemporary works by Arcangelo Sassolino, Nico Vascellari, and Giorgio Andreotta Calò. A residency program launches with artist Marta Spagnoli. The opening coincides with the Venice Art Biennale. Guided tours are offered, and the palace remains a private residence for Inti Ligabue's family. Renovations included reopening a monumental staircase and using traditional Venetian materials like pastellone and marmorino.
