Palazzo Durazzo, a 17th-century Rolli palace in Genoa, reopens as a luxury hotel

architecture-design · 2026-04-26

Palazzo Durazzo-Cattaneo-Adorno, a 17th-century patrician palace in Genoa's Via del Campo, has been transformed into a luxury hotel. Commissioned in 1624 by Doge Cesare Durazzo, the palace is part of the UNESCO-listed Palazzi dei Rolli network, which once hosted visiting dignitaries. After a seven-year restoration led by architect Emanuela Brignone Cattaneo, the palace now offers 12 suites (soon to be 17) with 7-meter frescoed ceilings by Domenico Parodi, private chapels, and a mix of modern and antique furnishings. The hotel also features contemporary art by Nam June Paik, Tomás Saraceno, and Sam Falls. Prices range from €300 to over €1,000 per night. The project aims to revive the original hospitality function of the Rolli palaces.
