Palazzo del Senato in Milan reopens with restored courtyards, coworking, and dining
The inauguration of the renovated courtyards at Palazzo del Senato, which houses the State Archives of Milan, took place on May 26, 2026. This initiative is part of a redevelopment strategy backed by public funding, private investments, and resources from the PNRR. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Culture and Agenzia del Demanio, the project seeks to convert the 17th-century site into a vibrant cultural center featuring cafés, coworking spaces, and exhibition areas. The removal of barriers cost €1.4 million, while the facade restoration amounted to €1.55 million, funded by ESTIA and Urban Vision. Following chef Carlo Cracco's exit, restaurateur Redi Shijaku took over a €1 million concession for the interior spaces. Additionally, €3 million from the Ministry of Culture will support technological upgrades.
