Palazzo Butera opens three salons with Valsecchi Collection in Palermo

exhibition · 2026-05-04

The Francesca & Massimo Valsecchi Collection is now on view in three newly opened salons on the first floor of Palazzo Butera in Palermo. The collection includes works by Annibale Carracci, Edward Burne-Jones, Sassoferrato, watercolors by painter-travelers, furniture from the Great Exhibitions, 18th-century Ginori porcelain, and early 20th-century French glass. The salons are exceptionally open every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in July from 6 to 8 p.m. The 18th-century seaside palace was purchased in 2016 by Lombard entrepreneur and collector Massimo Valsecchi, who intended it as a private residence and public museum. The initiative, which began last June, allows visitors to see these three rooms for the first time, in addition to the regular tour. The collection focuses on European art at its most transformative moments, centered on ideas of future and exploration.
