Palazzo Barberini unveils new 16th-century galleries in Rome

The Palazzo Barberini in Rome has unveiled a reinstallation project that introduces new spaces dedicated to 16th-century art. This initiative, overseen by Flaminia Gennari Santori, Maurizia Cicconi, and Michele Di Monte, with design by Enrico Quell, encompasses rooms 12-18 on the piano nobile. The exhibition showcases 42 pieces from the Gallerie Nazionali di Arte Antica alongside temporary loans, arranged according to a chronological-geographical theme. Notable works include Antonio Corradini's 1743 Veiled Woman, pieces by Andrea del Sarto and Beccafumi in Room 12, Lorenzo Lotto's Mystic Marriage of Saint Catherine in Room 13, and Raphael's Fornarina in Room 16. Room 17 features Giorgio Vasari's Allegory of the Immaculate Conception, while Room 18 presents portraits of the Barberini family.
