Palazzo Balsamo Boutique Hotel Restored with Vibia Lighting

publication · 2026-07-30

The 89th edition of Glocal Design Magazine, titled 'Visionarias del espacio,' features 15 female architects and interior designers expanding the conversation on architecture, design, and interiorism in Mexico. The issue includes two collectible covers by Prince Láuder and Jimena Estíbaliz. In Palermo, architect Floriana Parisi restored an 18th-century palazzo into the four-star Palazzo Balsamo Boutique Hotel, with interior design by Celestina Sgroi. The lighting, using Vibia's Knit and Array collections, enhances the historical architecture. Located on Via Maqueda, the hotel uses oak wood and soft tones to create a serene atmosphere that dialogues with original arches and vaults. Knit luminaires by Meike Harde provide soft, enveloping light in the lobby, integrating with curved furnishings without overpowering the space. The project demonstrates how contemporary design can respectfully integrate into heritage buildings.
