Pakistani Contemporary Art Exhibition at Milan's Diocesan Museum in 2018

In autumn 2018, the Museo Diocesano Carlo Maria Martini in Milan will host a group exhibition showcasing contemporary Pakistani art, curated by Salima Hashmi, a Pakistani artist and critic, alongside Italian critic Rosa Maria Falvo. Titled 'Art for Education,' the exhibition aims to support the non-profit organization Friends of The Citizens Foundation (TCF), which promotes secular education in Pakistan. Artwork sales will directly benefit TCF, which operates over 1,441 schools serving 204,000 students, staffed entirely by women. Featured artists include Hamra Abbas, Faiza Butt, Naiza H. Khan, and others, all supporters of TCF. A selection committee, including Rashid Rana, will determine the participants. The event is organized in collaboration with Fondazione Sant'Ambrogio, Skira Editore, and both Italian embassies. Hashmi remarked, "It's strange how the worse things get, the better the art becomes."
