Pakistan and Madagascar debut at 2019 Venice Biennale
Pakistan will participate in the Venice Art Biennale for the first time in 2019, represented by artist Naiza Khan. Her project 'Manora Field Notes' explores contemporary life on Manora Island, south of Karachi, addressing themes of the Global South. The Pakistan Pavilion, curated by Zahra Khan, is supported by the National Council of the Arts and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and organized by Foundation Art Divvy. Madagascar also debuts with a pavilion in the Arsenale, featuring artist Joël Andrianomearisoa, whose multimedia practice includes sewing, design, video, photography, and architecture. The Biennale runs from May 11 to November 24, 2019.
