Paggeria Arte Reopens in Sassuolo with Damien Hirst's Spot Paintings

exhibition · 2026-07-30

Paggeria Arte, a historic exhibition space in Sassuolo, reopens with a new format called Only One, presenting single works by international artists for weekend-long shows. The inaugural exhibition features Damien Hirst's Spot Paintings on June 27–28, 2026. Curated by Nicolas Ballario, the project continues with Julian Schnabel and Pietro Moretti from September 18–20, 2026. The initiative aims to make contemporary art accessible outside traditional circuits, targeting under-35 audiences and leveraging Sassuolo's ceramic heritage. Ballario and culture assessor Federico Ferrari conceived the format after a previous Warhol Marilyn display. The city's young administration supported the risky cultural venture. Hirst's series addresses mortality and order, while future artists explore psychological and physical dimensions. A public call for under-35 associations to manage the space will follow.
