Padova's Future Vintage Festival Blends Past and Present

The Future Vintage Festival returns to Padova for its seventh edition from September 9 to 11, now rebranded with 'Future' in its name. Organized by Vintage Factory in collaboration with Superfly Lab under director Andrea Tonello, the event features 24 free exhibitions across five levels of the Centro Culturale Altinate San Gaetano, a 16th-century palace by Vincenzo Scamozzi recently renovated with glass and steel. The festival's theme, 'Classico Contemporaneo,' highlights the dialogue between antiquity and modernity. Highlights include the Icon section showcasing Memphis, the design collective founded by Ettore Sottsass; an authorized Fiorucci archive curated by A.N.G.E.L.O. with 25 original garments; and an Olivetti exhibition by the Associazione Archivio Storico Olivetti tracing over a century of industrial design. A photography show, 'Hey Oh Let's Go,' curated by Ono Arte Contemporanea in collaboration with HTC Hollywood Trading Company, documents the Ramones' early years through Danny Fields' intimate shots. A new Wunderkammer space presents bizarre objects blending art and ready-made. Deputy mayor Eleonora Mosco described the free three-day event as transporting Padova back in time while looking to the future.
