Pacifico Silano's 'Assume the Position' at MONTI8, Rome

Pacifico Silano (New York, 1986) presents his third solo show 'Assume the Position' at MONTI8 gallery in Rome. The exhibition features new photographic works that reference vintage gay erotic magazines from the post-Stonewall era, as noted in a critical essay by Roberto D'Onorio. Silano's imagery—unbuttoned denim shirts, torsos, direct gazes, flowers—evokes 1980s and 1990s New York fashion weeklies but serves a deeper critique of imposed masculinity and identity categorization. The artist plays with visual subtraction, blurring, and framing to suggest unfinished, transformative narratives. Works include 'Cross Chain' (2025), 'Urban Cowboy' (2025), and 'Elegy to The Void' (2025). Silano was also selected to present projects during the spring/summer 2026 women's collection fashion show of a noted Swedish clothing brand (which also opened a gallery in Paris in 2025 featuring Dutch photographer Paul Kooiker). The show runs at MONTI8 in Rome.
