Pace Gallery to Open Massive 75,000-Square-Foot Chelsea Flagship in 2019
Pace Gallery will open a new flagship location at 540 West 25th Street in Chelsea, Manhattan, on September 25, 2019. Designed with Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture, the seven-story, 75,000-square-foot building features column-free galleries, high load capacity, flexible lighting, a 10,000-volume research library, an open art area, and dedicated spaces for new media, performance, and public programming. The ground floor houses the largest gallery and library, while the sixth floor offers panoramic Manhattan views and the seventh floor is tailored for multimedia works and live events. Founder Arne Glimcher stated the space was conceived to tell artists' stories dynamically and to explore the gallery model of the future, emphasizing flexibility and multidisciplinarity.
