institutional · 2026-04-22

In April 2010, the 17-year collaboration between Pace and Wildenstein was amicably dissolved, bringing an end to the PaceWildenstein gallery. As it celebrates its 50th anniversary, The Pace Gallery, originally established by Arne Glimcher in Boston in 1960 and relocated to New York in 1963, reclaims its independence. Marc Glimcher, who became President in 1993 after joining as Associate Director in 1985, now manages the gallery. The partnership with Wildenstein & Co., which commenced in 1993, facilitated exhibitions ranging from Renaissance to contemporary art. Both entities plan to explore future business ventures together. Pace operates from three locations in New York: 545 West 22nd Street, 534 West 25th Street, and 32 East 57th Street, along with Pace Beijing, a 22,000-square-foot space in Beijing's Art District. The gallery showcases prominent modern and contemporary artists, including Chuck Close, Jim Dine, and others. Current exhibitions feature Antoni Tapies at 57th Street, Kiki Smith at West 22nd Street, and Joel Shapiro at 25th Street.
