Pace Gallery and Sotheby's AAP to Manage Vito Acconci's Estate

market-auction · 2026-05-05

Pace Gallery has partnered with Art Agency Partners (AAP), a Sotheby's-owned advisory firm, to represent the estate of Vito Acconci, the influential American artist who died in 2017. The unusual collaboration between a gallery and an auction house aims to boost Acconci's market presence, which has been relatively weak despite his critical importance. Pace will handle gallery exhibitions, fair presentations, and public art projects, while AAP will place works in museums and manage the archive. Marc Glimcher, CEO of Pace, expressed enthusiasm for rediscovering Acconci's work, while Christy MacLear of AAP noted the need for a global platform. The agreement was recommended by AAP to Acconci Studio and Maria Acconci, the artist's widow.
