PAC Milano transforms into nightclub for DISCORIVOLUZIONE weekend
From March 3 to 5, 2023, the PAC – Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea in Milan will be transformed into a discotheque for DISCORIVOLUZIONE, a project that merges exhibition and clubbing. During the day, the museum hosts a show tracing club culture from 1960 to today through sections Discodiorama, Discoarcheologia, and Discoarchivio. At night, the spaces become a dance floor with DJ sets organized by Le Cannibale. The project is curated by 50 students from the Politecnico di Milano’s Interior Design Laboratory, led by Davide Colaci and Lola Ottolini. They designed five Disco-Installations activating the PAC spaces. The musical program features Daniele Baldelli, founder of the legendary Cosmic club and considered Italy’s first DJ, alongside Fabio Monesi on Friday and Saturday evening; on Saturday night, German artist Lena Willikens (resident DJ of Salon Des Amateurs) and Japanese musician Hiroko Hacci perform. The initiative draws inspiration from Studio 54, the iconic New York nightclub founded in 1977 in a former opera house in Midtown Manhattan, which turned clubbing into a cultural form. Colaci notes that contemporary discos, though often seen as ideologically weightless, remain places of negotiation, especially when viewed from peripheral disco-music cultures. Entry to the daytime exhibition is free; evening events cost 15 euros.
