Pablo Pita transforms Portuguese ruin into Loivos House retreat
Pablo Pita Arquitectos has transformed an abandoned building in Portugal's Douro wine region into a distinctive retreat named Loivos House. Nestled within a historic stone wall, the property features the remnants of an old olive press, which inspired the design. The layout is divided into four main areas: a living room, terrace, swimming pool, and a courtyard. A prominent olive tree welcomes guests at the entrance, leading to an upper lounge and a mid-level courtyard with an industrial plunge pool. The lower section includes four bedrooms, while the upper level provides scenic views of the Douro River from the living area and kitchen.
