Pablo Picasso's 1902 Painting 'La Miséreuse accroupie' Receives Conservation Treatment

Pablo Picasso's 1902 oil painting 'La Miséreuse accroupie' underwent conservation treatment. The artwork measures 101.3 x 66 cm and is executed on canvas. It entered the Art Gallery of Ontario's collection in 1963 as an anonymous gift. The painting dates from Picasso's Blue Period, created when the artist was 20 years old. Conservation work was completed in 2021, with the Picasso Estate and SOCAN holding copyright. The Art Gallery of Ontario now houses the conserved masterpiece. This treatment ensures the preservation of an important early 20th-century work.
