Pablo Accinelli's São Paulo exhibition explores time and labor through minimalist sculptures
In 2016, Pablo Accinelli unveiled his exhibition 'Cae la tarde' in São Paulo, showcasing 14 minimalist sculptures that delve into themes of time, labor, and transition. The artist from Argentina utilized materials such as steel, concrete, wood, glass, and paper. Among the standout pieces are a polished-steel stand featuring a broomstick with a missing end, five concrete sacks accompanied by a pillow, and doormats named 'Duración interna' with sections cut out. The broom stands incorporate measuring systems that allude to time, while two circular daisies exhibit playing cards and shot glasses. A newspaper clipping inscribed with 'Il mondo cambia' is highlighted, and a concrete cylinder with etched arrows creates an optical illusion. The exhibition also includes 14 works titled 'Frottage: archivo' that illustrate traffic queues, drawing on Henri Bergson's notion of durée réelle and featuring a poem by Ricardo Carreira.
