Outsider Art Fair 2020 Closes in New York, Next Stop Paris
The Outsider Art Fair 2020 has just closed at the Metropolitan Pavilion on 18th Street in New York. The annual event, which also takes place in Paris in October, offers a three-day immersion in a market driven by eccentric, disabled, and often marginalized artists. This edition featured 68 galleries. Notable presentations included Greenberg Gallery's black-and-white photographs by self-taught nanny Vivian Maier and unsettling figures by David Airhart, as well as drawings by Martín Ramírez from Ricco/Maresca. The fair highlighted Shibipo sculptures by artists Sara Flores and Celia Vasquez Yui, both residents of the Peruvian Amazon, who work with traditional clothing models associated with medicinal plants. Ceramic paintings and animals were selected by curator Brett Littman of the Noguchi Museum and the Conibo Shipibo Center. The next edition will be held in Paris on October 22 at the Atelier Richelieu.
