Outsider Art Exhibition in Genoa Attracts 771 Visitors in 18 Days

The exhibition 'Mappe dell’immaginario. Rappresentazioni di mondi (im)possibili' concluded after 18 days at Ducale Spazio Aperto in Genoa, attracting 771 visitors (70 during the vernissage), averaging 43 per day. The show featured 25 works by 7 international outsider artists: Kuffjca Cozma (Moldavia), Margot, Izabella Ortiz, Evelyne Postic (France), Davide Mansueto Raggio (Italy), Joskin Siljan (Serbia), and Julia Sisi (Argentina). The theme explored boundaries and their symbolic role in civilization through self-taught artists' visions. Visitors lingered longer than typical, reporting feelings of attraction or unease. Six visitor categories were identified: ignorant, casual, artists, critics, collectors, intellectuals, and specialists. Collectors noted that Ortiz and Sisi were simultaneously at the Outsider Art Fair in New York (Jan 18-21), while Siljan is in 'Turbulences dans les Balkans' at Halle Saint Pierre in Paris until July 31. The author, Linda Kaiser, engaged with visitors, providing interpretations and observing that the works resisted single readings, prompting layered responses.
