Outside Designs Bold Visual Identity for Culture & Community Power Fund
Outside, a design and tech studio located in Kathmandu, has launched a new website and brand for the Culture & Community Power Fund (C&CPF). Established in 2022, C&CPF aids grassroots organizations impacted by systemic oppression through direct funding, resource sharing, and network development. The studio's design showcases a bold and gritty style influenced by protest signs and zines, featuring a color scheme of orange, purple, yellow, black, and white. A prominent aspect is the ampersand symbol, displayed in various fonts to represent the diversity of partner-grantees; for instance, the Akaya Kanadaka typeface evokes joy, while Pilowlava nods to urban farming. Additionally, the project features a 'Knowledge Commons' resource library with submission options. Editorial Lead Elizabeth Lepro remarked that the initiative broadened their perception of 'culture' to encompass shared spaces, rituals, stories, and traditions. Outside also crafted accessible copy to articulate community power building.
