Out of Focus Platform Commissions Artists for Online Projects with Cross-Disciplinary Collaborators

digital · 2026-04-20

Out of Focus (OOF) is an online platform based in the UK, launched in 2012 by curators Rosie Cooper and Ariella Yedgar. Every year, the platform typically rolls out three to four new projects, each highlighting a fresh piece from an artist on the OOF homepage. These projects also include input from one person within the art field and another from a different discipline. Notable artists like Adam Chodzko, Laura Buckley, and Sebastian Buerkner have been commissioned, alongside contributors such as theorist David Buxton and zoological biologist Stuart Wigby. While OOF pays modest fees, it is actively pursuing funds to boost artist compensation. Currently, Stephen Sutcliffe's radio play adaptation is featured, with contributions from Aimee Campbell, Don Bachardy, and Ilsa Colsell.
