Ottella for GAM: New Acquisition Prize Launches at ArtVerona 2016
At the 2016 edition of ArtVerona, running from October 14 to 17 at Veronafiere, a new acquisition prize called Premio Ottella for GAM was introduced. The prize, endowed with €15,000, is sponsored by the Ottella winery, represented by brothers Francesco and Michele Montresor. Its goal is to acquire one or more works by emerging or established artists exhibited at the fair for the Galleria d'Arte Moderna (GAM) in Verona, thereby enriching the museum's collection. The selection jury includes Antonia Pavesi for the City of Verona, Patrizia Nuzzo (GAM artistic director), Francesco Montresor, Mariateresa Pizza (director of the Museo Archivio Laboratorio Franca Rame Dario Fo), and filmmaker Franco Piavoli. The inclusion of Piavoli and Pizza is intended to ensure free and objective choices, independent of market ties. ArtVerona has a history of supporting prizes like Icona, Display, i7, and Rotary Club Asolo, strengthening links between the fair, local institutions, and the industrial sector.
