Otobong Nkanga Awarded 2025 Nasher Prize with $100,000 and Dallas Exhibition

Otobong Nkanga has been selected as the 2025 Nasher Prize recipient, receiving $100,000 and an exhibition at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, Texas. The Nigerian-born artist, based in Antwerp, explores human-land relationships through resource consumption in her multidisciplinary practice. Her solo exhibition 'Craving for Southern Light' runs through January 7, 2024 at Spain's Institut Valencià d'Art Modern. Nkanga becomes the first winner since the prize transitioned from annual to biennial frequency, allowing more development time for exhibitions and publications. The award ceremony will take place in Dallas on April 5, 2025, where Renzo Piano-designed trophies will be presented. This international sculpture prize recognizes living artists who expand the medium's possibilities. A monograph publication accompanies the exhibition component of the honor.
