Otobong Nkanga Awarded 2015 Yanghyun Prize for Mid-Career Artists
Otobong Nkanga has received the 2015 Yanghyun Prize, an award established in 2008 by the Yanghyun Foundation. The prize provides financial support and exhibition sponsorship at a major museum for mid-career artists. Born in Kano, Nigeria in 1974, Nkanga has exhibited widely internationally. Her participation includes the 2015 Biennale de Lyon, 2014 Sao Paulo Biennale, 2014 Berlin Biennale, and 2013 Sharjah Biennale. Solo exhibitions have been held at Museum Folkwang in Germany, M HKA in Belgium, Stedelijk Museum in the Netherlands, and Kadist Foundation in France. Previous recipients of the Yanghyun Prize include Isa Genzken, Akram Zaatari, and Abraham Cruzvillegas. Dieter Roelstraete selected Nkanga as a 2014 FutureGreat artist.
