OSRAM LED Lighting Transforms St. Peter's Square in Rome
On October 20, 2016, at 8:00 PM, St. Peter's Square in Vatican City was inaugurated with a new LED lighting system designed by OSRAM. The project, a partnership between OSRAM and the Directorate of Technical Services of the Governorate of Vatican City, replaced the original torches with 132 state-of-the-art LED projectors, reducing energy consumption by 70% while enhancing the square's historic beauty. The lighting ceremony followed a visit to the Sistine Chapel, which OSRAM had also illuminated two years earlier.
