Osgemeos to Create First Italian Mural at HangarBicocca

Brazilian street art duo Osgemeos—Gustavo and Otávio Pandolfo—will create their first mural in Italy at Pirelli HangarBicocca in Milan. Titled Efêmero, the 1,000-square-meter site-specific work will be unveiled on April 20, 2016, as part of the new triennial project “Outside the Cube” dedicated to street art. Curated by artist and writer Cedar Lewisohn, the mural will remain visible for one year on the museum’s external walls. The theme evokes a train car, drawing on Brazilian colors and landscapes. The project follows HangarBicocca’s recent exhibition of Carsten Höller and the artists’ previous collaboration with JR at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Osgemeos are known for works such as Giant at P.S.1 in New York, Pra quem mora lá o céu é lá in Lisbon with Blu, and Don’t Believe the Hype at MOCA San Diego. A press conference is scheduled for April 20, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Via Chiese, 2, Milan. The mural will be accompanied by a rich calendar of collateral activities.
