OSA! Street Art Festival in Diamante Tackles Emigration
The Calabrian town of Diamante, already known for its murals, launched the OSA! – Operazione Street Art festival, directed by Antonino Perrotta, to boost cultural tourism. The festival focuses on internal emigration, a theme often overshadowed by external migration. Artists include Diamond, Solo, Moby Dick, Violetta Carpino, Giusy Guerriero, and Tmx. Students from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, under professor Ferdinando Fedele, recreated the CMYK Project using a 1940s photographic plate of two local women. Diamond's mural features a woman with a diamond, referencing the town's nickname 'Crazy Diamante', in an Art Nouveau style. Solo's piece depicts Superman as a father figure kissing his grandmother, originally from Diamante.
