Orvieto Cinema Fest Returns with Expanded Second Edition

The second edition of Orvieto Cinema Fest, an international short film festival, runs until October 5 at Teatro Mancinelli in Orvieto. Founded by 28-year-old Stefania Fausto and Sara Carpinelli, the event is self-funded and supported by crowdfunding. This year features 30 finalist shorts selected from 651 submissions across 40 countries, including 9 international films and 9 directed by women. Four competition categories are offered: best national, best international, best theme short (environment and climate change), and best documentary. A new contest for emerging illustrators on the theme #Thereisnoplanetb produced 16 finalist works exhibited in the theater. The jury is chaired by Italian director and cinematographer Daniele Ciprì. The festival collaborates with cultural association ApertaMente Orvieto and is part of the 6th edition of the Festival del Dialogo on climate change. Media partner is MyMovies.it. Submissions tripled from 250 to 650 compared to the first edition. The award ceremony takes place on October 5.
