Orticanoodles Reimagine Michelangelo's Tondo Doni as Street Art in Rome
The street art duo Orticanoodles have unveiled 'Anima Mundi – Tondo Doni', a mural inspired by Michelangelo's famous painting, in the Talenti district of Rome. The work is the first of a series under the 'Urban Art Talenti' project, promoted by construction company ImpreMe SpA in collaboration with CineVillage Arena Parco Talenti. The mural uses Airlite paint, which purifies air by reducing pollution by 88.8% and was recently recognized by the UN as one of the top four technologies for environmental sustainability. The project aims to combine art, technology, and community involvement for urban regeneration. Future interventions will involve students from Liceo Artistico Federico Cesi, who will create a mural on mobile panels displayed at CineVillage Talenti from September 1 to 15. Orticanoodles, active since the early 2000s and known for stencil technique, describe the work as site-specific, connecting Renaissance imagery with contemporary society and using colors sampled from the natural surroundings. The project is led by ImpreMe President Barbara Mezzaroma, who emphasizes the goal of improving quality of life through active community participation.
