Orizzontale Collective Builds Circular Agora for Events in Lugo

architecture-design · 2026-04-27

The Rome-based architecture collective Orizzontale has created LuOgo – Costruire lo spazio comune, a large circular installation in Lugo, Ravenna, that will host cultural events until September 30. The project, realized in collaboration with window brand Edilpiù, involved a participatory building process with 15 participants in June. The structure features LED lighting, shading fabrics, and climbing plants, transforming the garden at the foot of the Rocca Estense fortress into a multifunctional public space. Orizzontale founder Margherita Manfra emphasized the dialogue between the monumental square and ephemeral architecture. Events include performances like Equilibrio Precario by Paola Bandini, concerts such as Mercurio featuring Simon Tong (The Verve, Gorillaz), children's shows, talks, and workshops. The collective aims to bring community back to small-town public spaces.
