Orestiadi 2018: Gibellina Festival Commemorates 1968 Belice Earthquake

The 37th Orestiadi festival is being held in Gibellina, Sicily, from July 7 to August 11, 2018, under the theme '1968, niente fu più come prima,' commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Belice Valley earthquake. Directed by Alfio Scuderi, the festival takes place at the Cretto di Burri and Baglio di Stefano, a testament to community resilience founded by Ludovico Corrao. The opening night on July 7 features performances by notable artists such as Alessandro Haber, Mario Bellavista, Gianni Gebbia, Giovanni Scarcella, Igor Scalisi Palminteri, Angelo Sicurella, and Compagnia Franco Scaldati. On July 8, Stefano Accorsi will present 'Giocando con Orlando – Assolo,' followed by Emilio Isgrò's 'La Gibella del martirio' on July 15. Visual arts exhibitions include 'Trasversalità dello spazio' and 'Growing a Language.'
