Orange van Cinema Tascabile brings free films to Florence suburbs

From July 18 to August 11, 2022, the orange Volkswagen Bulli van of Cinema Tascabile will tour five districts of Florence, screening 16 free films in public spaces. Organized by Teatro Puccini Associazione Culturale and Associazione M.arte, the project is part of the broader Estate Fiorentina cultural program, which this year includes 118 events. Screenings take place at Villa Arrivabene (Q2), Centro Sociale di Sorgane (Q3), Piazza della Creazia in Ugnano (Q4), and Piazza Primo Maggio in Brozzi (Q5), each showing one film per week at 9:30 PM. Deputy mayor Alessia Bettini praised the initiative for bringing culture to all neighborhoods. The lineup includes French comedies like La Famiglia Belier, Italian hits such as Figli starring Mastandrea and Cortellesi, and international titles like The Farewell. Children's films include Pixar's Coco and Spirit Untamed. Special tributes mark the centenaries of Pier Paolo Pasolini, Margherita Hack, and Luciano Bianciardi, with dedicated screenings and performances.
