Open Sound Festival's Suite OSA Concludes at Matera's Palazzo Lanfranchi

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

The Open Sound Festival, originally part of Matera 2019 European Capital of Culture program, was canceled due to Covid-19 but held a single final event on September 26 at the Terrazza di Palazzo Lanfranchi. The event featured Suite OSA, a live performance of original works blending contemporary electronic music with ancestral sounds from Basilicata. A summer call for producers attracted 67 candidates; nine were selected and participated in the Open Sound Academy at Cecilia in Tito (PZ), in collaboration with Sugar Music. The academy included seminars, one-to-one sessions, showcase, masterclass, and auditions, leading to three young talents—Mala Femmina, Enrico Lillo Dadone, and Angelo Rosato Fanelli—advancing to the final phase. From September 6 to 13, they worked in recording studios in the Sassi of Matera, co-producing and rearranging original tracks with guest producers Stabber, Clap! Clap!, and Yakamoto Kotzuga, under artistic director Alioscia Bisceglia. The selected producers will perform at _resetfestival in Turin on October 9-10, and in November at Linecheck Festival during Milan Music Week, where Open Sound is a partner.
