Open House Roma 2018 opens 200+ architectural sites for free weekend tours
On May 12-13, 2018, more than 200 locations in Rome will be accessible for free as part of the seventh edition of Open House Roma, an initiative by Open City Roma in collaboration with Roma Capitale and the Lazio Region. This event allows visitors to explore previously closed residences, palaces, and archaeological sites. Originating in London during the 1990s under Victoria Thornton, it has expanded to Milan and Turin. The 2018 theme, 'Human Factor,' emphasizes the roles of professionals and volunteers, with over 700 volunteers leading approximately 50,000 guided tours. The sites are divided into five categories: City of Knowledge, Inhabiting, Everyday Architecture, Crossing History, and Creative Heritage, with special routes like 'Underground Rome' and 'The City and Water.' This year introduces the Centro Studi Giorgio Muratore.
