Open House Roma 2017: 5 thematic areas and 160 sites open to the public
The sixth edition of Open House Roma will take place in May 2017, offering free access to over 160 architectural sites, including the FAO headquarters, the Italian Space Agency, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana (now FENDI headquarters). The event, organized by Open City Roma with support from Roma Capitale, Regione Lazio, and the Order of Architects of Rome, features five thematic areas: 'City of Knowledge', 'Crossing History', 'Everyday Architecture', 'Living', and 'Factory and Creative Production'. New this year is 'Il futuro passa da qui', a special event at the Ex Pastificio Pantanella (home to AIL and GIMEMA onlus) that will host the closing party on Sunday evening. The debut of the Forum Urbanitas aims to foster dialogue among stakeholders. Vice President Giovanna Mirabella emphasized the need for Rome to leverage its best forces for a forward-looking perspective. Among the notable sites are the bioclimatic housing in Primavalle by Guendalina Salimei Tstudio, the Campus Universitario a Pietralata by Ettore Pellegrini, Palazzetto Bianco by Paola Rossi and Massimo Fagioli, Metro C station San Giovanni, and creative studios at Portuense201. The event builds on the success of 2016, which saw over 70,000 guided visits.
